Colin Meeks began his hobby as an amateur radio operator with a Technician license when he was 7 years old. Today, at 9, he holds a General Class FCC license with privileges that authorized him to launch and track miniaturized beacons into the stratosphere.
Sponsored and supervised by Dave Voit (WB6TOU), Colin successfully released his first hydrogen balloon this morning under his personal callsign, K6CMM (Channel 299). If you’d like to know its current location and altitude, see the Lodi Amateur Radio Club article “Where is My Balloon” for instructions.
