Last weekend (June 28th and 29th), members of the Lodi Amateur Radio Club participated in Field Day, an annual emergency communications readiness event, training camp and gourmet food binge.
To spice things up, certified pilot Peter Maynes (N6UAS) joined us from Hero Point LLC to demonstrate the practical uses of a commercial drone.
One aspect of Field Day is the opportunity for young and old to work together and learn from each other. As seen below, it may have taken three grown men to pull a nylon string through a tennis ball and a grape harvester as an antenna support, but we are good innovators and had lots of fun figuring things out.
