How Hams Enjoy Parks

Several of our members took good advantage of the beautiful fall weather to operate in the field. Rick Manies, Brian Daly, Stu Bennett and Mike Dugger set up to work POTA (Parks on the Air) at New Hogan Lake. Looks like Brian is having the most fun.

Closer to home, Keith Colgan and Dennis Merritt tested antenna performance at Lodi Lake. After a few minutes of transmitting only 2 watts with a home brew end-fed vertical cut for 20 meters, listening stations around the world began reporting their signal via WSPRnet as shown in the screen shot. Pretty cool!
